On behalf of all the charities, vendors and sponsors who are coming together to put on the first Annual Celebrity Weekend SA sponsored by the Priest Holmes Foundation, I would like to thank you all for visiting our site. Please browse through this page to learn more about our exciting event coming to San Antonio, June 20-21st, 2008. The weekend’s agenda is sure to draw a large crowd of kids and adults alike. Kicking off the celebration on Friday, June 20th will be Camp with the Pros, a football camp for kids ages 5-18, put on by Holmes’ trainer and friend Bay Bay McClinton, founder of All Sports Speed and Conditioning. This two day camp will include several active and retired NFL players who will volunteer their time to assist the campers in developing football skills and speed through one-on-one training. After the Camp with the Pros concludes on Saturday, the activities will continue with a Celebrity Basketball Game coached by Spurs’ players, Tony Parker and Robert Horry. Joining them will be a cast of other professional athletes and celebrities. The day will end on a very high note with a benefit concert. National and other local artists will be on hand including Mario, Chingy, Ally Brooke, J. Mellion, and many more. The Holmes Foundation has partnered with Red McCombs Scion to give away a brand new 2008 Toyota Scion. The winner of this promotion will be presented the car at the Red McCombs lot located at 8333 I-10 West in San Antonio on the afternoon of June 28th, the following weekend. Along with the musical entertainment and car registration, there will be a Music Industry Awareness Q&A session to help educate people, especially the youth of San Antonio, about breaking into the music industry and the reality about lifestyles in that industry. A panel comprised of music professionals and talent will be on hand prior to the performance to answer questions. All proceeds raised for events during Celebrity Weekend SA will go to the Holmes Foundation. In turn, the Holmes Foundation will make donations to select local charities. Among them are The Saint Peter and Saint Joseph’s Home for children and The Shooting Stars Basketball Academy. The Saint Peter and Saint Joseph’s home helps children affected by emotional and sexual abuse, neglect and poverty. It also is a community counseling and service center for families in crisis. Originally founded in 1891 as an orphanage by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the home now serves children and families in its main campus located across from the historic Mission Concepcion. The Shooting Stars Basketball Academy is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership and mentoring to underprivileged youth through basketball. Their goal is for children of all ages to strive to reach their potential on and off the basketball court. |
